Dinuguan is blood stew: a Filipino dish made of pork cooked in its own blood. It is also the delicacy served up at the end of the devilish and dark take on a first date gone awry.
For all its abrasive perversity, “Blood Stew” is essentially a romantic film. And it is through this genre that Khavn is able to weave together his contradictory impulses as a shock artist and as a romantic. (Ricky Torre)
